Healthcare Associated Infections in Hospitals: The Unknown Killer - Medical Cleaning

Each day, about one in every 25 U.S. patients suffers from at least one infection contracted at some point during their hospital care, according to the CDC. But with new technology and prevention initiatives, many hospitals have made progress in protecting patients.

“Hospitals have made real progress to reduce some types of healthcare-associated infections—it can be done,” CDC Director Tom Frieden said in press release.  When choosing a quality assured janitorial company look for one that follows proper medical cleaning techniques.

While the CDC emphasizes the importance of hospital control methods for these diseases, other recent reports indicate that hospitalized patients only account for about one-third of health care-associated infections. The infections are also present in other types of health care facilities and in the community, the CDC said.
